I just stumbled on this announcement from Olympus:

"Go beyond the resolution capabilities of 3D confocal laser scanning
microscopy with FV-OSR (Olympus Super Resolution), a new software module
for the FV1200. Experience greater detail than ever before with an easy
upgrade to confocal super resolution for existing systems.
Through improved detection, specific hardware settings, optimized confocal
aperture diameter, and signal processing, Olympus has succeeded in
realizing improved contrast with super resolution definition. Olympus’
unique and proprietary FV-OSR technology realizes lateral (X-Y) resolution
up to 120 nm."

There are no further details on the Olympus website. I found this on the
Leicester Universit imaging platform website:
"Olympus has released a super resolution add-on for their FV1000/FV1200
confocal laser scanning microscopes, the FV-OSR (Olympus Super Resolution)
unit. Information receiced from Olympus shows that the technique relies on
reducing the pinhole and using a fourier transform of the intensities to
visualise the high spatial frequency components. The xy resolution is
around 120nm. At the moment it is not clear if the axial resolution is also
improved."

I wonder how it works, would someone have an idea or point me to a paper
describing the strategy likely used?
