JOB TITLE: Regional Sales Engineer
REPORTING TO: National Sales Manager - Bitplane
LOCATION: Texas

MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB:

The primary role of the Regional Sales Engineer is to develop new business for 
Bitplane’s Imaris 3D/4D image analysis software within technical and commercial 
queries from direct research end- users and channel partners in the areas of 
physical science and bio-imaging applications in a specified region or major 
geographical area while meeting and/or exceeding agreed upon Team and 
Individual Sales Objectives.

KEY TASKS AND DUTIES:
Sales (70%)

Support the Sales Objectives by researching the customer’s needs and 
developing the application of products and services in an professional and 
effective manner by:

• Manage designated sales leads, prospects and customer accounts in a 
manner incumbent with agreed business objectives. Follow-up on all sales 
opportunities within a timely manner.

• Providing leadership to existing channel partners and end-user customer 
relationships.

• Developing new business relationship within the defined territory with key 
science centers and scientists as well as strengthening existing customer 
relationships.

• Provide answers to technical and commercial queries from direct research 
customers.

• Perform customized demonstrations of Bitplane software in a manner tailored 
for customer’s specific scientific endpoints.

• Continually compile market information/intelligence on dedicated regions with 
a view to providing market feedback to assist in the shaping of future company 
strategy and product development.

• Evaluating product and service marketability in terms of customer’s technical 
needs.

• Establishing and maintaining industry contacts that lead to sales.

• Represent and promote Bitplane in a professional manner at tradeshows and 
conferences within the designated regions.

• Managing successful pilot initiatives to increase productivity and sales.

• Manage and process all orders received for the region.

• Work with Regional Staff, HQ and other internal operations to establish a 
communication path with the customer.

• Manage and report sales bookings, potential sales, customer feedback and 
activity plan and other reports, as required.

• Regularly attends monthly sales meetings and offers feedback and 
suggestions to improve product solutions.

• Other duties as assigned by management.


Technical (20%)

• Conduct user group meetings and training workshops in 3D/4D visualization 
and participate in advanced optical microscopy/image analysis courses as 
commercial faculty.

• Maintaining up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical 
developments that effect target markets and document in corporate customer 
database.


Training (10%)

• Conduct recurring product training to channel partners and end users as 
required to support Sales Objectives.
