Tobias Baskin recently asked:

"Is there a way to measure the average pixel intensity of a user
defined region of interest on the biorad mrc 600 confocal instrument?"

The answer is that there are two ways to do this -

1. In CoMOS, Select Histogram from the Enhance menu, press the 'Area' button
and then trace the region of interest. The mean intensity for the region is
then reported, together with the minimum and maximum pixel intensities and the
standard deviation.

If desired, a data file ****.dat can be optionally saved to disk.

2. In MPL type the line command 'area' and then trace the region. The mean,
minimum, maximum and variance (square of standard deviation) are reported.

This data is automatically saved to a temporary file (c:\mpl.dat) and the values
are available separately (in memory) as global variables. For example, type
'print #mean'.

Type 'help global_variab' for full details of the global variable names.

I hope this helps.

Greetings,
Is there a way to measure the average pixel intensity of a user
defined region of interest on the biorad mrc 600 confocal instrument? We
have to measure a lot of little objects spread widely in space and it would
save us schlepping heaps of images from platform to platform.
        Thanks for any advice,
                                Tobias Baskin
