Russ,
Your original question included the option of putting the lamp supply on
a UPS. Is there any problem with running an arc lamp off a UPS? If
not, the UPS would prevent the lamp from shutting off during a power
outage.
Otherwise, an LED solution would work as they don't require a manual
restart or cool-down problem. Is anyone using the COOLLED system?

Hi
We are designing a time lapse microscopy setup that will be operating
unattended for 20 - 40 hr. periods. I'm concerned that during that time
we may have a power outage, the computer and controllers will have a UPS
backup. Can we on a separate circuit also place a Hg arc lamp power
supply on a separate UPS of the proper size. Also does anyone know if
arc lamp power supplies are wired in such a way to prevent re-ignition
after a power outage without intervention.
