Dear Steve, I assume that you stain two different compartements/organelles
in your red channel. I just can tell you about the smaller network-type
pattern: lt ooks pretty much as a typical ER pattern that appears very
similar in all different kinds of fibroblastic monolayer cells. Although
the "wholes" in the net seem to be rather big for ER, I can tell that
depending on the condition of the cells this happens sometimes (especially
when the cells were recultured shortly before the fixation).
About the second structure I can just speculate. It looks rather like
cytoskeleton. Would it be possible that you detect a protein that is first
translated at the ER and later bound to some parts of the cytoskeleton?
