Andy,
My apologies again! I found the problem. I really
just missed your facility in the compilation of the table.
The Pharmacology instrument under UCSF really is UCSF and I
neglected to include yours under UCLA. Sorry - to all you
others in ConfocalLand - you may add Andy's rates to the
table! Thanks again for your input!
Sue
Hi Sue,
I just got your table on rates, and thought I'd fill in some details.
I'm unclear on who at UCLA you got rates from, but I assume it was
not this facility as per the notes.
Anyway, here's our rate card:
CM 20/hr, req's 1-2 hrs. training, also at 20/hr. No operator
provided after initial training, but some supervision available.
Image processing: same as above, may require longer training.
User must provide own media (tar tapes, etc).
No flow cytometry in this facility.
This is for UCLA Pharmacology/Crump Institute. There are 5 or 6 other
confocal microscopes on campus (that I know of), I don't think any are
open to outside users(?).
Our facilities:
Leica CLSM, inverted FU Fluovert microscope. Includes 2D and some 3D
software. Objectives: 10x, 40x, 63x, 100x.
Laser: Ar/Kr (special) wavelengths of excitation: 488, 514, 568, 457(weak).
Image processing: Sun Sparc-10-41 workstation, running AVS5.01, also IDL.
Also available are some image conversion tools including PBM+, SDSC Imtools,
some miscellaneous others. Facilities available for making slides, prints.
Also on campus, facilities for making video productions, broadcast quality
tapes.
-A.J.
