Position: Senior / Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Topic: Computional Bio-Image Analysis / Imaging Informatics

The Central Imaging Facility at the Institute of Molecular and Cell
Biology (IMCB), Agency of
Science and Technology Research (A*STAR), Republic of Singapore,
invites applications for a
senior / postdoctoral research fellow position in the area of
computational bio-image analysis and
imaging informatics. The successful candidate will join a
multi-disciplinary research team led by
Dr. Weimiao Yu. The team is focused on understanding basic mechanisms
of cell migration
through the development of quantitative and automated image analysis
methods applicable to live
cell imaging.

IMCB has a strong focus on internationally competitive fundamental
research as well as on
translational outreach towards clinical and industrial applications.
The Central Imaging Facility is a
multi-disciplinary facility with a wide range of expertises, notably
in computer vision and image
processing, especially when applied to cell biology, developmental
biology, systems biology and
clinical medicine. State of the art computer and microscopy facilities
are available.

Singapore has become a leading hub for life sciences research and
continually sees substantial
private and state-sponsored investment in science. Singapore is a
vibrant, multi-faceted and
culturally rich state, ideally located in the centre of South East Asia.

The successful candidate will have the following credentials:
• Ph.D. degree in a field relevant or applicable to image processing
and computer vision
• A good publication record
• Strong analytical skills, especially in the area of image processing
and analysis applications
• Experience in combining various computational methodologies
• Strong programming and algorithm development skills, preferably
including Matlab

We are looking for a candidate who is independent-minded but can work
well in a team
environment and who is willing to collaborate with experimental laboratories.

The position provides a three-year contract with competitive salary
and benefits commensurate with
experience. The institute will assist successful applicants from
overseas with their work visa
(Employment Pass). The position will remain open until filled (at
least until 30th June 2012).
