Hi!

Thanks for all great reply and suggestions! It does not seem to be a simple task to exchange our old broken computer with another old original Leica computer. Is it realistic at all? That is exactly needed to do so?

Best regards
Niklas Lorén

Hi again.
From entering in BIOS (take care always to make photos of all options in BIOS, if not it could be difficult to restore) data you could get information of type of HD (columns, cylindres, size, etc.). You have to get same type of connection (SCSI, for example) new disk, but to make it as an old one: in one ocasion, we have to buy a 200 GB HD, but we format it as a 2(system and program)+6 GB (data) old one). But it could work.
Regards,
Konstantin

Failed HDD = bad news. Hope you have backups of the LCS HW tree database.
If not, your Leica rep should have a copy. Without it, it's going to be a pain to restore the system.
I'm not great with backup myself, I'm trying to keep copies in the cloud, which seems safe...
