We have purchased the fluoro-nangold with the idea of doing both
confocal and EM on the same prep. The problem is that the fluoro-nanogold
literature states that it is not stable at temp. generally used for
polymerizing Spurrs or Epon/Araldite resin. You can stabilize the
nanogold by silver enhancement. If you silver enhance the gold, you cover
the fluorescein molecule that you need for fluorescence.
It seemed like a good idea but it hasn't worked for our purpose.
