If you use a 565 green interference filter, to the best of my knowledge,
you can mix objectives so long as the tube lengths are the same on the
scopes; i.e. you can't mix infinity corrected lenses with 160 mm tube
length lenses from, for instance, Nikon.  However, you should, in
principle and as far as I know, in practice, be able to mix infinity
corrected lenses.
 
Therefore, the main concern regarding compensation-type versus
"chrom-free" type lenses regards the use of full-color images, typically
when doing histology, or using multiple different fluorescent probes.
