The SGI Indy is quite capable of network printing. It supports the
Berkeley lpr/lpd network printing protocols.

First of all, you don't mention what software you are using on the PC to do
the networking. This information would be extremely important as it will
define the types of network protocols we can use. If the PC software cannot
act as a print server (and most can't due to the limitations of DOS) there
may be no way to accomplish this using the PC as the print server. Usually,
printers are installed on the Indy, and the PC's, running some kind of network
software, act as clients to the network print server. Internally at NORAN we
use PC-NFS from Sun Microsystems for our PC networking software. It seems
to work well and does support client side printing from the PC.

Both of the error messages you report are most likely due to the PC not
having a print service available for the Indy to use. In both cases it looks
like the Indy tried to contact the remote (ie: PC) host and in each case
the connection failed.

If you can supply more deatils on your network configuration perhaps I can
supply further insights on network printing.
