Were it possible to have both types of accessibility, then
I would prefer a newsgroup.  I get over 200 email messages
a day.  For me, newsreaders make scanning large numbers of
messages much easier.  I can understand the concerns of those
without newsfeeds, and I don't think we can abaondon such
folk, so a method of parallel access would be necessary.
