Dear all,
The Janelia Advanced Imaging Center, partnering with the Okinawa Institute of Science & Technology (OIST), and the Advanced BioImaging Support (ABiS) Japan, will offer an all-expense-paid (registration, travel, lodging, ground transportation), 6-day intensive microscopy bootcamp - the Okinawa Microscopy Workshop in 2024.
As a regional outreach program, this workshop is specifically catered to participants working in non-profit organizations in Japan or in Southeast Asia, and will be held at OIST, April 2-7, 2024. It will also feature two keynote addresses by Atsushi Miyawaki and Hari Shroff.
This workshop will cover the following:
Fundamentals of fluorescent molecules
Brightfield microscopy
Widefield fluorescence microscopy
Confocal fluorescence microscopy
TIRF microscopy
Light-sheet microscopy
Two-photon microscopy
Super-resolution microscopy (SIM, Airyscan, STED, SMLM)
Advanced live-cell imaging (FRET, FRAP, FLIP, photoactivation etc)
Fundamentals of digital images
Basic principles of image processing
Fourier transformation
Object segmentation
Machine learning
Colocalization analysis
Ratiometric image analysis
Intensity measurements
Morphometric analysis
Motion tracking and modeling
