I can't tell you where to find a UV laser but did you consider the new Syto
dyes from Molecular Probes?  These dyes stain living cells in either the
red or green channels of a confocal with either the common Ar or Kr/Ar
lasers.  we have been using Syto16 and Syto 17 with pretty good luck.
