Some time ago there was much traffic on film recorders -

We have an Agfa QCRZ and its great. I really can't recommend it
enough. We compared it with the Polaroid 5000 and an analogue
model. The QCRZ *easily* beat out the competition.

While the QCRZ is no longer manufactured you can still find
rebuilt models and they are only slightly more expensive than
the Polaroid - the used QCRZ was $6,500 versus about $5,000
for the Polaroid. The highest resolution of both models is
4,000 lines. However, since the QCRZ can also record 4x5
film you can really do more with it than you can with
the Polaroid.

Talking to people who use these units in the graphics industry
I found that the QCRZ has a reputation of doing a great job but
being a tad slow. That's why Agfa stopped making the QCRZ and
brought out a new, faster model. However, since we're more
concerned with quality than speed we figured that the 1 - 2
minutes longer that the QCRZ takes per slide ain't that big
an issue.

Later -

Michael
