Dear All,
I have looked through the Agenda and more. I clearly see expansion in its broadest sense. However, image processing, handling of large data sets, parallel computing and much more related to data analysis has been left behind. It sounds to be either very slow, extremely difficult to achieve, or represent chronic lack of funding. I do not mention that imaging without killing live specimen is still a challenge. Working with under sampled data seems to be a new normal...
Thus, obvious question. What are the priorities in regard to fast quantitative image analysis? None of the commercial software can run on a server, under unix/linux, utilize hundreds of CPU nodes, GPU arrays, etc., not mentioning batch image processing jobs.May be should stop expanding and start working on speeding up data processing. I am nearly sure that Petabytes of image data have not been analyzed yet, right?
Best regards,
Vitaly

WELCOME BINA!, Hi Leong!
German BioImaging looks very much forward to interacting and exchanging experiences. It´s an exciting journey you have started at the Janelia Conference, and an ambitious one too. Building bridges across almost a hemisphere is quite a challenge, but the broader the basis the stronger the platform!
All the best and good luck from
Elisa & GerBI
