This may or may not be relevant to Ellen Lumpkin's problem
with PMT sensitivty.
 
The sensitivity of the Zeiss LSM10 here falls for several hours
after being turned on.  I believe this is largely due to the PMT and
nearby/associated electronics warming up, rather than the lasers (Argon and
HeNe 543 nm).  I don't know if the LSM410 behaves the same way, but it
is certainly something to watch for.
