Dear Kem,
In the LSM510 software (version 3.2), under z-sectioning, there's a button
called 'range'. After clicking on this, the microscope will start scanning
in the XZ plane and give you an impression of the thickness, which is used
for defining the thickness for a z-range scan, but it can also be used for
measuring thickness...
Hope it'll work out!
Best,
Sven Terclavers

Subject: [CONFOCAL] LSM 510 high resolution XZ scans

As a relative newcomer to the world of the Zeiss LSM510 (and a long time
user of the LSM 410), I was surprised that I could not simply press one
button and get a high resolution XZ scan of my sample, a function that I
need in order to measure sample thickness without resorting to Z
sectioning. Am I missing something here. Any help would be appreciated.
