This was on a MRC 1024.  We use a Nikon inverted scope so the 1/4 Wave plate
is underneath the objective turrent. It is on a slide so the plate can be
removed from the optical path. I usually leave it in its apparrent
attentuation of the fluorescent signal is minimal.
