Live Cell Imaging: Research Scientist
Life sciences B.S., M.S. graduate is needed to conduct live cell imaging
analysis of epidermal morphogenesis in Arabidopsis. The research project
combines GFP and color variant fluorescence microscopy, reflected light
confocal microscopy, and DIC imaging of living wild-type and mutant
cells. The cytological studies are part of an integrated molecular
genetic and cell biological approach to understanding cytoskeletal
function during epidermal development. The primary research
responsibilities include:
1) Live cell confocal microscopy: imaging will be conducted using both a
Yokagowa-spinning disk confocal microscope and laser scanning confocal
microscopy.
2) Image processing: 3-D rendering, time-lapse, particle tracking, dual
labeling overlays, and script writing. We will use Metamorph and Adobe
Photoshop software for image acquisition and analysis.
3) Database management: database organization, tracking, and archiving.
Some experience with microscopy is required. Experience in molecular
biology and genetics is not required, but would be a bonus.
Availability: 5/1/02
Salary: $22.000 to $28,000/yr. depending on experience.
