*Postdoctoral Research Position*

*Texas A&M University Health Science Center*

*Department of Medical Physiology*

A Postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Andreea Trache laboratory to 
study molecular dynamics with a focus on mechanotransduction at 
cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesions, and their connection with the 
cytoskeleton in aging and thoracic aneurysm. These studies will involve 
the use of atomic force microscope (AFM) combined with total internal 
reflection fluorescence (TIRF) and spinning-disk confocal microscopy. 
The successful candidate should have experience/training in optical 
imaging methods, and prior experience with cell cultures, transfections, 
cell staining and molecular biology. Prior experience with AFM is a 
plus. The laboratory is housed in the new Medical Research and Education 
Building II on College Station/Bryan campus. Salary and fringe benefits

• PhD in a related field

• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others and perform 
all job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in 
compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

*Preferred Qualification *– Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• PhD in biophysics, biochemistry or engineering and demonstrated 
research experience in the field

• Demonstrated experience in confocal imaging technique

• Previous experience in working with live cells and fixed tissues

• Previous experience in a research cell culture laboratory

• Ability and willingness to learn new microscopy techniques and/or 
software analysis packages as needed.

• Knowledge in TIRF, spinning-disk confocal, and atomic force microscopy 
is a plus

• Knowledge in using Fiji/Image J and/or Imaris is a plus

• Previous experience in handling rodents is a plus

• Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English language

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary in interacting 
with users.

• Work productively in a team-oriented environment
