We figured out how to switch the laser to standby and back automatically
with the shutter control 2 years ago.  At that time ILT said the laser
(Ar ion ) comes up to full power instantaneously.  ILT supplied a circuit
diagram for the power supply connector to show where the switch closure
can be applied.  We only figured it out - never actually did it.
