This is a point of clarification from a commercial vendor.
There seems to be some misunderstanding over Paul Krumpe's message about IP
lab and confocal.
>>Is Signal Analytics (or any other company for that matter) developing MacOS
software to run a confocal microscope or even a z-stage control?
If no, why not?
>>
A complete Meridian InSight confocal laser scanning system, including
Z-drive, filter wheel, cooled CCD camera, frame grabber board, laser shutters
and scanning mirror can all be controlled by IP lab Spectrum software running
on a Macintosh Power PC platform. If you want Meridian's own user interface
and software, you will need our Pentium-based IQ computer.
The InSight series of scanners also offer direct ocular viewing of full-color
confocal images, so they can be used effectively without any computer system
at all. Image processing by Pentium, Mac, or visual cortex; the choice is
yours...
