Thanks to all those who responded, both on-list and off-list. -- For
anyone interested in this subject, there's a very intuitive, reasonably
powerful open-source Java program available called OpticalRayTracer:
http://arachnoid.com/OpticalRayTracer/
It doesn't simulate mirrors--only lenses--but it has some nice
features. For instance, under "help", they describe a Dispersion
Experiment that sets up a simulation of an achromat lens--VERY cool.
Looks as if the program could be a good resource for teaching.
