I can confirm this - we had a Tektronix 850, and upgraded to the 860.
The ink blocks are different, and the prints from the 860 are more
resistant to scratching etc...

We are very happy with the 860 as a general lab. printer for printing
confocal files, PDFs of papers (it prints on both sides of the paper)
and for quick transparencies.
