PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY

As civil unrest directed at the multi-lateral trading regimes and
multi-national corporations continues to grow, I believe it is time to study
and discuss viable alternatives to that regime.

Toward that end, the McKeever Institute of Economic Policy Analysis wishes
to award very modest gifts of US $ 100.00 each to five papers which present
examples of such alternatives. The amounts are simply an expression of
appreciation and not meant to be substantial. Awards will be granted in the
Summer of 2002.

All accepted papers will be made available on a web site. Hopefully, a
publisher will make a book from this series. Papers which present real life
examples of alternatives to globalization which are self-supporting will be
reviewed by a small panel of volunteers; the panel will decide which papers
win the awards, which are worthy of publishing and which are not acceptable.
Such examples may range from specific businesses to entire national economic
policy sets.

If you would like to be a judge in this process, please forward a SHORT, 500
word statement via email in ascii text of your interest and qualifications
to the writer prior to before August 1, 2001. No CV's at this time, please.
Judges will read papers submitted and vote on their acceptability; the
writer will provide preliminary screening in order to reduce reading time as
much as possible. There will be no requirements for authors' experiences or
qualifications nor for papers submitted other than a minimum of 1,000 words
and a maximum of 5,000 words in English; this process will be open to anyone
with an email account. Judges will be selected on the basis of their
interest and qualifications to address the subject, regardless of
ideological inclination. The judging panel will be at least five people but
not more than ten. The entire process will be conducted via email. The
writer reserves the right to modify the rules as circumstances merit.

The writer will attempt to respond to reasonable, individual questions.
