Fifth Women's Policy Research Conference
Women's Progress: Perspectives on the Past, Blueprint for the Future
June 12-13, 1998, George Washington University, Washington, DC
CALL FOR PAPERS Deadline: October 17, 1997
The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR) announces its 1998 Fifth
Women's Policy Research conference, Women's Progress: Perspectives on the
Past, Blueprint for the Future, co-sponsored by the Women's Studies Program
of the George Washington University. The conference, which will be held June
12-13, 1998 in Washington, D.C., will address women's economic and social
progress.
Sessions will discuss how research has documented women's progress, or lack
of it, methodological and statistical issues in measuring women's progress,
public and private policy measures that have augmented or diminished women's
status, how the issues of race and class affect women's progress, as well as
future goals for women's progress and methods for attaining those goals.
IWPR conferences bring together policymakers, practitioners, business and
labor leaders, advocates, researchers, and others from across the United
States, as well as from other countries. Participants come to present and
discuss the latest research findings on women's lives and how public and
private policies affect women and their families.
IWPR welcomes proposals that focus on policies that affect women, on
policy-relevant research on women's lives, and on the intersections between
policy making and research. PROPOSALS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY OCTOBER 17, 1997.
