This may be a bit unusual for these lists, but thought I would try.

An investigator would like to keep tissue stored in Ham's medium, at 4 C for
a period of three to four weeks. Every week a sample of this tissue will be
removed and analyzed for viability with one of the two-color fluorescence
techniques using confocal and/or FACS.

He wants to keep the tissue as close to 4 C as possible during this period
of storage. The standard refrigerator set at 4 C, I'm told, can vary as
much as +/- 4 C.

Revco sells a 4.9 cu ft refrigerator that keeps the temp at +/- 0.5 C, but
even dent and ding models cost around $1,400 to $1,800 (usual price is about
$3,500!).

Does anyone have a suggestion for a small refrigerator, or other source of
refrigeration, that will stay at 4 C +/- 0.5 C for less than the cost of one
of these Revco models? I suppose we could use something such as a Lauda
water bath but I'm not sure how practical/safe its continuous operation
would be over a period of several weeks.

Thanks for any ideas.
