Hi Olivia,
We were recently in the same situation - looking for new software for
our existing hardware including a PE confocal. My strong suggestion is
to see a demo of each software package running your hardware (if you
haven't already done this). Only one software out of the five that we
considered has been able to run our specific hardware configuration once
the vendor arrived and set up for the demo.
I'd be happy to talk more about my experiences via direct email.
Best,
Jessica

Thanks for all your suggestions. We already have the PE system (not new
RS) and I know that technically both Metamorph and Openlab can run all
the components. We just have to decide which one to go for. Our
experience with the PE software has been frustrating to say the least.
We want something stable and relatively user friendly. We already have
Meta on a couple of other systems but are very impressed with some
other software from Improvision (Volocity). We also have a lot of Mac
users so a Mac system would be the popular choice. Olivia
