Hi Prabhakar,
A standard monochrome CCD camera should have a very long lifespan. There
are no specific "wear-out" components and they do not normally have high
stresses (voltage, current temperature) on the components. They are used
in CCTV applications 24/7 for many years. A cooled camera is a different
matter; they can suffer from two failure modes related to the cooling.
Firstly there is moisture ingress affecting the CCD, secondly fatigue
failure of the Peltier cooler or CCD from thermal cycling. Colour
cameras can suffer from bleaching of the filters, especially single chip
cameras with matrix filters.

Robert.

Hello,
Can anybody provide information on the typical lifespan of a
monochrome CCD camera which is typically used for 4-8 hours a day.

Thanks,

-Prabhakar
