Spent the last 3 days on the north shore. Must interesting items as follows:
Monday 10/19
White-winged Scoter - 2 at Paradise Beach, one in Grand Marais
Black Scoter - one at Paradise Beach
Surf Scoter - one in Grand Marais
Gyrfalcon - Grey phase adult flew west at Hovland
White-winged Crossbills - in conifers across from dock in Hovland
Tuesday 10/20
Long-tailed Duck - female at Castle Danger sewage ponds (not present on Sunday)
Northern Shrike - Castle Danger sewage ponds (only one in 3 days, weird)
Generally slow birding, no really late species, few robins, few Cedar Waxwings (no Bohemian), etc. Even though lots of Mountain Ash berries and an abundance of cones on the spruce trees. Only one loon in the three days. Horned Grebes very common, just about every place we looked.
