Reducing the image size or using bidirectional scanning will reduce the time as will reducing the averaging as long as you don't mind trading off image quality for time.

If LAS AF has "activate resonant scanner" checkbox on startup, do it.
8000 lines/sec. If you do not have it, ask your salesperson for the
upgrade price - ask for pricing on a couple of HyD's as well (see
Wolfgang's recent post).

While waiting for the upgrade(s), set the scan speed to 1400 Hz (max
speed on the standard scanner).
