Hello birders,
Out and about birding the metro with Diane today yielded some early winter
birds and late fall migrants:
*Snow Buntings* - 1 in Ramsey (Red Rock Road), 5 in Washington (100th. St)
and 15 in Dakota County (180th st. Marsh).
Wood Lake Nature Center had:
*Song sparrow* - 1 near feeders (but not AT the feeder)
*Fox sparrow*s - today and yesterday
*Tree sparrow * - only 1
Vadnais lake was also productive:
*Common Loon* - 15 yds from car!
*Ring-necked Ducks* - at least *200 *
*Common Goldeneye *- about 40
*Redhead *- 2
*Double-CRESTED cormorant *- 3
*Wood Ducks* - about a half dozen
*Hooded Merganser *- at least a dozen.
180th Street marsh also yielded a small blackbird flock with
*Brown-headed Cowbird* - 1 male
*Rusty Blackbird *- 1 female
*Red-winged Blackbirds* (males & females)
*Starlings* - about 3 in this flock. Several small murmurations also seen
elsewhere today.
