About the Job
Europe’s top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has combined with the 
University of Cambridge to create the world class Cambridge Research 
Institute (CRI) situated on the Addenbrooke’s Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.
The Institute’s research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational 
research to clinical application. The Institute currently houses 300 researchers 
and contains brand new state-of-the-art research facilities.
The light microscopy facility at the Cambridge Research Institute offers a full-
time permanent position for an expert in advanced light microscopy 
techniques. 
The imaging facility provides a state-of-the-art core resource to CRI 
scientists, which offers imaging support as well as providing new developments 
in imaging applications.

About You
The successful candidate will have broad experience in microscopy and 
imaging techniques, expertise in operating microscopes (confocal, wide-field 
fluorescence, time-lapse), experience in the use of commercial software for 
image acquisition and image analysis such as 2D, 3D and 4D- analysis. He/she 
will have a degree in biological sciences or physics or equivalent and a 
knowledge of cell biology is essential. A PhD is desirable but not essential.
 
Interest or experience in non-linear imaging such as multi-photon imaging, life-
time imaging or high-throughput imaging would be an advantage.
 
The candidate will be part of a qualified multi-disciplinary team with a high 
degree of freedom to work within the parameters set by the facility head.
