FOCUS ON MICROSCOPY 2013
Maastricht, the Netherlands, March 24 - 27, 2013
  Incorporates:
26th International Conference on 3D Image Processing in Microscopy
25th International Conference on Confocal Microscopy

Dear colleagues,

The detailed program of FOM2013 is now available on the website www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org<http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org> where also registration is open and hotel information available.

Authors have been informed individually by email on the placement of their contribution in the program.

Please note the 21 Febr. deadline for reduced fee early registration.

Tutorial workshops are offered before the start of the conference on Sunday March 24, afternoon from 14:00 to 16:45. Subjects and speakers are:

  * Tutorial workshop - Fundamentals of fluorescence imaging
G.C. Cox, University of Sydney, Australia
  * An ABC of fluorescent proteins: Advances, brilliance and considerations
J. Goedhart, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands
  * A tutorial on wavefront shaping with spatial light modulators for advanced microscopy
M. Ritsch-Marte, Innsbruck Medical University, Austria
  * Structured illumination microscopy and related techniques
G. Saavedra, Universitat de València, Spain

Attendance is free for registered participants. See for details the program on the website.

After the successful 2012 conference in Singapore, FOM2013 is the next in a series of unique interdisciplinary meetings on advanced multi-dimensional light microscopy and image processing. The upcoming Focus on Microscopy conference will take place in the week before Easter from Sunday March 24 to March 27, 2013 in Maastricht, the Netherlands at the MECC conference center in Maastricht, close to the Maastricht University Medical Center.

For more details please visit the website www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org<http://www.focusonmicroscopy.org/>. Also information about previous FOM conferences can be found there under the button "Past conferences". From FOM2004 onwards (at the program pages of each year) a one page PDF abstract is available of the presented contributions. Also a full website "Search" function is present.

Focus on Microscopy 2013 is the continuation of a yearly conference series presenting the latest innovations and newest trends in optical microscopy, and their application in biology, medicine, and material sciences.
Key topics are:

  * Optical theory and practice of confocal and multiphoton-excitation microscopy
  * 3D and 4D live cell and tissue imaging
  * Super-resolution, nanoscopy imaging: from PSF engineering (4pi, SIM, STED), fluorescent activation/quenching, stochastic/centroid (PALM, STORM and related techniques) to TIRF
  *   Adaptive optics for microscopy
  *   Developments in phase/interference microscopies
  *   Light sheet microscopy
  * Advanced Fluorescence Imaging/Spectroscopy: FRET, FRAP, FLIM, FCS
  *
Multi-photon fluorescence and coherent, non-linear microscopies: SHG, THG, SFG, CARS
  *   Developments in phase/interference microscopies
  * Multi-dimensional fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy imaging
  *   Correlative Light/Electron microscopy
  * Laser manipulation and tracking, photo-activation
  *   Bio- and nano-materials, biosensors
  *   OCT, endoscopy
  * Fast acquisition, automated and high-throughput microscopy
  * 3D image processing and visualization for multidimensional data

At the 2013 conference the topic "Optics and Microscopy for Medical research and diagnostics" will receive special attention.
The conference series is, in addition, known for covering the rapid development of advanced fluorescence labeling techniques for the confocal and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens.
A technical exhibition will be an integral part of the Maastricht 2013 conference.

Important dates:
Deadline for early registration: February 21, 2013
FOM2013 Conference:     March 24-27, 2013
Easter Sunday:  March 31, 2013

We welcome you to Maastricht for the FOM2013 conference and exhibition. To stay informed about the conference please leave your name and email at www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org/stayinformed<http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org/stayinformed>
On behalf of the organizing committee:
