The Invivo scientific we have also has the sensor at the sample.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,
You are right. With the Okolab setup you can measure directly in your sample or “slightly indirectly” bei measuring in a reference dish in the stage top-CO2-incubator. All other incubators in our facility feature the other setup with the sensor in the cage (but not in the stage top incubator) somewhere close to the sample
Cheers,
Oliver

All of these systems are cage incubators and offer stable and reliable temp. control. PeCon and OkoLab cages are more closely fitted “around the stage and the core optical components” whereas the LIS ones are more bulky and put more or less a big incubator box around the entire stand. Since a few years LIS offers cages where 1/3 or 2/3 of the cage (you can choose) can be taken off easily. Especially with the 2/3 solution it is pretty easy to service most parts of the system without deinstalling the entire incubator. This is a big advantage.

All brands control the gas flow and mixing very nicely. However, the humidifiers turn out to be the most critical point in all gas mixers. We prefer the ones that are using more or less normal red or blue cap bottles (OkoLab PeCon) as they can be much easier refilled, especially by users. Other brands like LIS offer slim, long humidifier bottles that are positioned inside the incubator and thus have the same temp. which is very good for temp. stability. However, refilling the water can be tedious and you should be prepared that you or at least your users break at least on bottle…
