Depending on the version of DOS, directories may have a limited number of
entries.  If I remember correctly, early versions of DOS had a limit of 86
or so files.  The current version on one the older PCs here seems to have a
problem with more than 120-something files.  And, anyhow, the CoMos
software witht he BioRad is much too cumbersome with lots of files.
