Wow, that is a really interesting point of view.
 
Not very realistic, but interesting nonetheless. :-)
 
My personal views on the future of the Mac OS aside, I will limit myself to
saying that getting an image processing program for the IBM that is
equivalent to NIH-Image (Freeware) will cost you easily five figures (well,
unless you run NIH-Image in Mac OS emulation mode on the IBM).  This does
not even touch the issues of user-base, support or ongoing development to
that software.  Try calling up the Image 1 people and asking them how their
Mac version of Metamorph is coming along.
 
As with anything on this list, as the previous poster correctly pointed
out, and as it should be, this has been only the opinion of one person and
I reserve the right to be completely biased or incorrect.  :-)
