The spectra issue is not dead. Molecular Probes has offered spectra for
many of their chemicals (with a bunch of caveats about buffers, etc.)
especially if they can just get us the plots. I know that there is
software on the net that will generate ascii off of plots, so I told them
that we would like their spectra and we'll deal with the data. I realize
that this is not as good as having the "real" data, but beggers can't be
choosers. Every spare staff cycle at MolProbes is being devoted to the
new catalog that was due a couple of years ago. As soon as that is out,
they would love to work with some group to get the spectra out. In
addition, Martin Wessendorf has agreed to make some of the spectra that
he has recently published available to a web site.
We, and others, have not forgotten about it.
