I compared the Olympus FluoView and the Nikon PCM 2000. Olympus is a
much better buy ($100K including microscope) than the Nikon ($120K NOT
including the microscope). The Olympus is a 12 bit system with excellent
hardware, and better software.

Nikon did not have transmission detector at the time of my testing, even
though their ads claimed that they did. Maybe they finally have it. Only
an 8 bit system, though they do a bit of software manipulation that
generates what they call a 16 bit image. Acquisition in that mode is
extremely slow.
