I agree with the previous post of Dr. Seydel regarding the operation of
COMOS in Win 95. We haven't experienced any problems running COMOS out of a
Win 95 DOS window. However, installing Win 95 on an existing Win 3.1/ DOS
machine is just as easy as installing on a blank hard disk. I rarely
recommend a re-format unless absolutely necessary. Without re-formatting
you can save yourself time in having to reinstall all the Bio-Rad software
currently on the hard disk. Also, when you upgrade, it allows you to
transfer any current DOS and Win 3.1 programs to Win 95 and creates an icon
for them. After the upgrade, you can choose to retain Win 95 and delete the
old Win 3.1/DOS files, or if there is a problem with Win 95 running, you
can go back to Win 3.1/DOS and UNINSTALL Win 95.
