David,
If I remember well there was a discussion on this list about temperature
control. You could check the archives of the list.

You should also consider other options from :
-BIO-LOGIC in France propose a dynamic temperature controller. I have no
information on the price, but check their web site http://www.bio-logic.com
We get their products via CBO Instrumentation
-Atto Instruments http:/www.atto.com 
-Bioptechs Inc. http:/www.bioptechs.com I am not sure, but I think they are
distributed in France by Dipsi.
-ALA Scientific Instruments. http:/alascience.com They are distributed in
France by Sega.

I have no interest in any of these companies. I can not recommend either one
of these products because I have never used them, or heard from users. We
use the Medical System device and it works fine. 
 
-Most of microscope manufacturers propose incubators made of a plexiglass
enclosure fixed to the stage of the microscope and a separated heater. They
propose heating plates too.
