I mentioned this today at the meeting for those who are interested in
health policy. It promises to be a great opportunity to meet your
legislators...

Take care,
 celia

Register Online For MMA 'Day At The Capitol'

MINNEAPOLIS, Updated 2:24 p.m. CST January 7, 2003 -- Physicians can now
register
online to attend the Minnesota Medical Association and the Minnesota
Medical
Association Alliance's "Day At The Capitol And Legislative Summit 2003" on
Feb.
6. Attendees will learn how to become involved in formulating health care
policy

and how to make their voices heard by state legislators.

This year's Legislature will make many critical decisions about funding
health
care programs. Newly elected legislators and new leaders in the Minnesota
House
and Senate need to know that physicians care about legislation affecting
health
care.

Participants will learn about the MMA's legislative priorities for 2003 and
will

have an opportunity to meet with their legislators and attend legislative
hearings.
In addition, Minnesota's new governor, Tim Pawlenty, has been invited to
speak
at the luncheon.

The summit will begin at 11 a.m. with a legislative briefing at the
Sheraton
Midway. Lunch will be provided.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., participants will move to the state Capitol,
where
they will meet lawmakers and attend legislative hearings.

The MMA and MMAA are encouraging all physicians, medical students, and
their
spouses to attend this important event. Lawmakers notice groups that
assemble
at the Capitol. Show legislators that physicians are concerned about what
happens
in the legislative process.

More than 70 physicians participated in the “Day at the Capitol,” which was
held

in February 2001.

The cost of registration is $25 per person, $5 for a medical student or $20
to
sponsor a medical student. If you would like to sponsor a medical student,
the
fee would be $25 for you to attend and $20 per medical student.

To register, go to http://www.mmaonline.net/capitol/dayatthecapitol2003.htm

To register via phone, fax, or mail, send a check payable to MMA, to Vicki
Westling
at (612) 362-3764 or (800) 342-5662 or fax at (612) 378-3875.

For more information, contact Wendy O'Donnell at (612) 362-3745.

The Day At The Capitol is sponsored in part by MMIC.
