Hi Adam & AMSA activists,
The folks who are working on a U of MN policy on Essential Medicines =
will be attending both the WAD and No Free Lunch/PharmFree meetings on =
Monday and Tuesday. They will have some time to tell us about some of =
their recent activities and progress and we will discuss how AMSA and =
the medical school (including Dean Powell) can join in efforts to make U =
of MN policies on pharmaceutical issues. They will also have a booth at =
World AIDS Day. Check out the below email, which has a link to some =
articles and info about their earlier efforts.
The No Free Lunch/PharmFree meeting will be on Tuesday 11/19 at 12:15 in =
Mayo B646 (6th floor). The World AIDS Day Meeting will be on Monday =
11/18 at 12:15, probably also on 6th floor Mayo, but we don't have a =
room yet confirmed. We will send an email out as soon as we have room =
confirmed, or else we will post signs by the elevator on 6th floor Mayo =
on Monday. Any and all faculty and administration at the medical school =
are welcome to attend.
See everybody on Monday and Tuesday.
Chillin' and recoverin',
Quy

Hi Quy,
A couple members of the group have tentatively agreed to attend our =
World AIDS Day and No Free Lunch/PharmFree meetings next week so they =
can better inform us of their work in progress and discuss ways for us =
to work together. Currently, they are both scheduled for Tuesday, 11/19 =
during lunch. If possible, I think it would be a good idea to change =
the WAD meeting to Monday lunch because there is a lot of overlap of =
people between the two meetings and the HSFC lunch lecture on Somali =
health has been cancelled. We will send an email by tomorrow if we make =
a change in the meeting date.=20
I'll definitely be at both meetings. Please only let me know again =
where the meetings will be held. (Sorry for forgetting.)
The group has also agreed to present a booth for our WAD =
commemoration on December 2. They also plan/hope to have a symposium on =
effects of international policy property on access to essential =
medicines in the spring, which will invite prominent speakers from other =
universities that also are working to implement similar policy changes. =
The group also recently submitted an editorial to the Daily. I will =
forward the article as soon as I receive it. Many of the group will be =
leaving after this academic year, so they are looking to implement or =
pave the way for changes ASAP. We at the medical school can definitely =
help make this possible.
Barring some kind of unforeseen complication, I'll gladly staff a =
booth on December 2 -- consider this a commitment.=20
As for the editorial. I don't have the URL on hand -- Greta probably =
will -- but a lot of the earlier 2001 organizing documents, including =
some editorials, may be found at the following website:

Adam
