Dear all,

A long time ago John Beatty referred me to an essay, I think by
Maynard-Smith, on death or senescence --- I recall from this essay that
Haldane once wrote something on the evolutionary explanation of why
organisms grow old and die. Does anyone know anything about this essay?
If
so, could you give me
the reference?

Cheers,
Paolo
