Dear ISH members,

A few announcements:

The international and interdisciplinary conference *‘The Microbiome and
Biological Individuality’*
<https://www.philinbiomed.org/event/microbiome-individuality/> will be held
on *July 3rd, 2024* at the University of Bordeaux, France, Pey Berland
Campus. This is in just one week!

It will gather a fantastic line-up of world-leading experts in microbiome
research, for an in-depth discussion on the conceptual foundations of this
field and its impact on how we conceive of biological individuality.

We are delighted to announce that Margaret McFall-Ngai (Caltech) will be
our afternoon's chair.

Speakers include Yasmine Belkaid, Benoît Chassaing, Gérard Eberl, Hannah
Kaminski, Rob Knight, Julien Royet, and Orsolya Vincze:

Attendance is free to all (including buffet lunch), but
*registration is mandatory*. If you're interested, just follow the link:
https://www.philinbiomed.org/event/microbiome-individuality/

*Please circulate this announcement* to anyone who might be interested.

If you'd like to attend online, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Thomas Pradeu

Notice also that PIBM seminars are often filmed and put online. The latest
seminar was by Stefan Linquist. His talk can be watched here:

About filmed seminar, Greg Radick’s recent lecture “Disputed Inheritance:
Rethinking the Past, Present and Future of Genetics,” delivered at the
Francis Crick Institute in London on 21 June, is now available online – the
introductions start at 4:20, and the lecture itself starts at 9:50:
