1. The Department of Social Studies of Medicine at McGill
University, in connection with the Department of Anthropology,
invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of
assistant professor to commence 1 September 2008. Priority will be
given to applications that were received by 30 November 2007; the
review of applications will continue until 31 January 2008.

2. The journal Science & Education will be publishing a special
anniversary issue(s) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the
original publication of On the Origin of Species in 1859 and,
coincidentally, the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth. Researchers
working on areas related to Darwinism and evolution education are
invited to contribute. The due date for submissions has been set for
over a year from now on 31 Dec 2008 so as to encourage high quality
contributions from as many scholars as possible.

3. The University of Vienna and the Institute Vienna Circle invite
applications for their annual two-week summer program. This years
topic is, "History and Philosophy of the Biomedical Sciences" to be
held in Vienna, June 30 - July 11, 2008. Application deadline:
January 30, 2008.

4. Call for abstracts: Genetics, history and public understanding,
3rd International workshop Barcelona, 30-31 May 2008. This workshop
will precede the 2008 European Society for Human Genetics meeting, to
be held in Barcelona June 1-3. This history and public understanding
of human genetics workshop will be focused thematically and includes
both historical and contemporary studies on:
Hope, trust and troubled dreams of genetics. Deadline for abstracts:
February 1, 2008.
