1. Postdoc:  The Integrative Research Center (IRC) at the Field Museum
of Natural History in Chicago seeks a philosopher of biology or
similarly qualified individual for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship,
focusing on the metaphysics of species and gene concepts. Ingo
Brigandt (University of Alberta) will act as external co-supervisor
for the fellow. Deadline: 1 October 2013.

2. Call for Abstracts: Philosophy of Biology at Madison (POBAM)
workshop, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 30 May to 1 June 2014. We
encourage abstracts in all areas of philosophy of biology or general
philosophy of science with a biological focus. We want a diverse
program and hope that presented papers will differ from each other on
several dimensions (e.g., technical and nontechnical, historical and
nonhistorical, evolutionary and nonevolutionary). Deadline: 1 October
2013.

3. Request: The editors (Kostas Kampourakis and Ron Numbers) of a
volume on historical myths current in science education request input
regarding any myths in science texts that need exposure. The volume is
in the preliminary planning phase.

4. Journal: Back issues of History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences
are now available on JSTOR, from vol. 1 (1979) to vol. 31 (2009). The
journal contains many classic papers that have until now been
difficult to access online.
