1. Egenis, the E.S.R.C. Centre for Genomics in Society is running a
postgraduate workshop in the Philosophy of Biology on May 24th-28th
2005, "New issues in philosophy of biology - new perspectives for
philosophy of science."  The teachers in the workshop are Prof. John
Dupre, Dr Staffan Mueller-Wille, Prof. Paul Griffiths and Dr
Christine Hauskeller.  Only applications received before February 28,
2005, will be given full consideration for funding.

2. The Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of
Cambridge (U.K.) has secured core funding in the history of medicine from the
Wellcome Trust. The five-year enhancement award recognizes the Department's
re-establishment as a centre of undergraduate teaching, postgraduate training
and postdoctoral research in medical history. Funding for
studentships, research
leave, a website, seminars, workshops and conferences has been
awarded.

3. The Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of
Cambridge (U.K.) invites applications from candidates with interests in all
areas of history of medicine who would like to be nominated for the Wellcome
Trust's annual master's award and doctoral studentship competitions. The
Department also invites applications for two doctoral studentships funded by a
five-year Wellcome enhancement award in history of medicine.

Understanding," Thursday 25 August - Saturday 27 August, 2005, Vrije

5. The Southwest Colloquium in the History and Philosophy of the Life
Sciences will be held at Arizona State University on 1-2 April 2005.
The topic is "Experimentation and Observation". The keynote address
will be presented by Paul Farber, OSU Distinguished Professor of
History of Science, Oregon State University. The submission deadline
for abstracts is 7 January 2004.

6. The Medical Museion at the University of Copenhagen invites
applications for up to 4 postdoctoral fellowships in the project
"Danish Biomedicine, 1955-2005:
Integrating Medical Museology and the Historiography of Recent
Biomedicine", funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.  Application
dead-line is 1 March, 2005.

8. The School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University invites
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Philosophy
of Biology/Epistemology.  Anticipated start date is August 16, 2005.

if not filled, weekly thereafter until the search is closed.
