As part of the launch of the Journal of Transport and Land Use, we
would like to present a series of review papers detailing the state
of play in the field of Transport and Land Use. Strategically
speaking, we have found that quality review pieces which are then
cited widely dramatically help increase the visibility of the journal
(and the author!). At the meeting of the Editorial Advisory Board at
WCTR in June, a number of potential review paper topics were raised:
- audits to measure the built environment
- perceptions of Tr/LU environment
- measuring access
- active travel and the built environment: do we know anything new?
- review of Integrated Tr/LU models/microsimulation
- what do we know about the co-evolution of Tr/LU
- Tr/LU education
- strategies for addressing residential self-selection
- land use and energy (as it relates to mobile sources or transport
dimensions)
- Tr/LU/project management
- political institutional issues
- customer experience of public transport
- land value uplift
- congestion pricing on LU
- telecommunications LU
- LU/TR/modeling Firmography
Through previous conversations, we have loose commitments from the
following individuals
* Dan Graham - Agglomeration Economies
* Kostas Goulias (with others) - Information and Communication
Technology and Transportation
* Bob Noland - Transport, Land Use, and Safety
At this point we would like to solicit from the Editorial Board (and
others) review papers on those topics or others you think are of
interest. Before we start targeting individuals who may be prime
suspects, we wanted to seek volunteers for any of the topics. If you
are writing, or are
willing to write and submit to JTLU a paper on one of the above
topics, or have something else in mind, please let us know ASAP.
If you think someone not on the Editorial Board would like to
contribute a review paper, please invite them, or pass their name and
topic to us so we can do so. And, as always, we are accepting
nominations for how/where you think others could contribute.
We also have several theme issues/special issues in various stages on:
* Transportation and Land Use in China (Betty Deakin and Chris Zegras),
* Transport and Land Use of Mobility Impaired (Jan-Dirk Schmoecker)
* Accessibility (David Levinson and Kevin Krizek)
* Commuting and Networks (Piet Rietveld and Aura Reggiani)
If you would like to organize a special issue, please talk to the
editors.
Thanks again for your efforts.
